    Yehudah and Ephraim standing near the Kodesh Kodeshim........     The unification of Yehudah and Ephraim - The unification of Messiah Ben David/Yoseph.
    Messiah Ben David/Yoseph is the One who: Isa 63:9  In all their distress He was distressed, and the Messenger of His Presence saved them. In His love and in His compassion He redeemed them, and He lifted them up and carried them all the days of old. What is he base of the HaBerith HaChadasha:

    Jer 31:1-37  “At that time,” declares Adonai, “I shall be the Elohim of all the clans of Yisra’ěl, and they shall be My people.” 

    2  Thus said Adonai, “A people who escaped from the sword found favour in the wilderness, Yisra’ěl, when it went to find rest.”

    9  “With weeping they shall come, and with their prayers I bring them. I shall make them walk by rivers of waters, in a straight way in which they do not stumble. For I shall be a Father to Yisra’ěl, and Ephrayim – he is My first-born. 

    10  “Hear the word of Adonai, O nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, ‘He who scattered Yisra’ěl gathers him, and shall guard him as a shepherd his flock.’ 

    11  “For Adonai shall ransom Ya‛aqoḇ, and redeem him from the hand of one stronger than he. 

    12  “And they shall come in and shall sing on the height of Tsiyon, and stream to the goodness of Adonai, for grain and for new wine and for oil, and for the young of the flock and the herd. And their being shall be like a well-watered garden, and never languish again. 

    13  “Then shall a maiden rejoice in a dance, and young men and old, together. And I shall turn their mourning to joy, and shall comfort them, and shall make them rejoice from their sorrow, 

    14  and shall fill the being of the priests with fatness. And My people shall be satisfied with My goodness,” declares Adonai. 

    15  Thus said Adonai, “A voice was heard in Ramah, wailing, bitter weeping, Raḥěl weeping for her children, refusing to be comforted for her children, because they are no more.” 

    16  Thus said Adonai, “Hold back your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears, for there is a reward for your work,” declares Adonai, “and they shall return from the land of the enemy. 

    17  “And there is expectancy for your latter end,” declares Adonai, “and your children shall return to their own country. 

    18  “I have clearly heard Ephrayim lamenting, ‘You have chastised me, and I was chastised, like an untrained calf. Turn me back, and I shall turn back, for You are Adonai my Elohim. 

    19  For after my turning back, I repented. And after I was instructed, I struck myself on the thigh. I was ashamed, even humiliated, for I bore the reproach of my youth.’ 

    20  “Is Ephrayim a precious son to Me, a child of delights? For though I spoke against him, I still remembered him. That is why My affections were deeply moved for him. I have great compassion for him,” declares Adonai. 

    21  “Set up signposts, make landmarks; set your heart toward the highway, the way in which you went. Turn back, O maiden of Yisra’ěl, turn back to these cities of yours! 

    22  “Till when would you turn here and there, O backsliding daughter? For Adonai has created what is new on earth: a woman encompasses a man!” 

    23  Thus said Adonai of hosts, the Elohim of Yisra’ěl, “Let them once again say this word in the land of Yehuḏah and in its cities, when I turn back their captivity, ‘Adonai bless you, O home of righteousness, mountain of set-apartness!’ 

    24  “And in Yehuḏah and all its cities farmers and those who journey with flocks, shall dwell together. 

    25  “For I shall fill the weary being, and I shall replenish every grieved being.” 

    26  At this I awoke and looked around, and my sleep was sweet to me. 

    27  “See, the days are coming,” declares Adonai, “that I shall sow the house of Yisra’ěl and the house of Yehuḏah with the seed of man and the seed of beast. 

    28  “And it shall be, that as I have watched over them to pluck up, and to break down, and to throw down, and to destroy, and to afflict, so I shall watch over them to build and to plant,” declares Adonai. 

    29  “In those days they shall no longer say, ‘The fathers ate sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are blunted.’ 

    30  “But each one shall die for his own crookedness – whoever eats sour grapes, his teeth shall be blunted. 

    31  “See, the days are coming,” declares Adonai, “when I shall make a renewed covenant with the house of Yisra’ěl (Ephraim, the Lost Sheep from the House of Israel) and with the house of Yehuḏah (The Jews). 

    32  Not like the covenant I made with their fathers in the day when I strengthened their hand to bring them out of the land of Mitsrayim, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them,” declares Adonai.

    33  “For this is the covenant I shall make with the house of Yisra’ěl after those days, declares Adonai: I shall put My Torah in their inward parts, and write it on their hearts. And I shall be their Elohim, and they shall be My people. 

    34  “And no longer shall they teach, each one his neighbour, and each one his brother, saying, ‘Know Adonai,’ for they shall all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them,” declares Adonai. “For I shall forgive their crookedness, and remember their sin no more.” 

    35  Thus said Adonai, who gives the sun for a light by day, and the laws of the moon and the stars for a light by night, who stirs up the sea, and its waves roar – Adonai of hosts is His Name: 

    36  “If these laws vanish from before Me,” declares Adonai, “then the seed of Yisra’ěl shall also cease from being a nation before Me forever.”

By annihilating all the laws Avoda Zarah, robbery, murder, raping, murder the rape victim, homophily, pedofily etc. brought forth by following our Yetser Hara (evil inclination) and bringing fort her ‘head’ the ‘anointed’ king: Amalek, the ultimate expression of our evil inclination. But instead cultivating the sparks of Messiah our Yetser Tov (good inclination) into our National Soul. Your eyes will see Jerusalem a tranquil habitation. To visualize the pleasantness of the Lord and seek deep understanding in His Temple, Teachings of “Efraim My firstborn, ” the height of his activity.                 It is a Mitzwah and duty for every man of Israel, for all those engaged in gathering in the exiles, certainly for anyone who bears any responsibility whatsoever in administering public affairs in Eretz Yisra’el, even more so anyone engaged in settlement of Eretz Yisra’el--all of them:

Must learn to know and understand well, profoundly, and completely, all 156 aspects and characteristics of the Messiah in the beginning of the Redemption, Messiah ben Yosef, through whom the ingathering of the exiles will occur as part of the beginning of the Redemption when the awakening comes from below.

Below are the 156 aspects and characteristics of Messiah ben Yosef, which include all the appellations and the good qualities involved in the beginning of the Redemption. The number 156 is significant because in gematria the value of “Yosef” is 156, and so is the value of “Zion.” Both Yosef and Zion are in sefirat Yesod. According to the Midrash (Tanchuma, end of  parsha “Vayegash”), whatever happened to Yosef, happened to Zion.

Jer 31:17  “And there is expectancy for your latter end,” declares Adonai, “and your children shall return to their own country. “Efraim wanders”;

Jer 31:20 “Is Ephrayim a precious son to Me, a child of delights? For though I spoke against him, I still remembered him. That is why My affections were deeply moved for him. I have great compassion for him,” declares Adonai. “Efraim is my favorite son”

 

All these are basic aspects of Messiah ben Yosef that appear in the same chapter. Efraim is called Elohim’s firstborn, because he is the first Messiah through whom the ingathering of the exiles will occur, which means the exodus from exile. Mount Efraim is so called because it leads Israel up to Zion, as we learn from the verse: “call out from Mount Efraim, ’Rise and let us ascend to Zion.’” The aspect ‘Efraim wanders’ signifies that Messiah ben Yosef has no rest, he wanders from north to south, and from south to north, as written: “wake up North, and come to the South.” The initial letters of the 4 Hebrew words, , are equal in gematria to the value of Messiah ben Yosef (566). “Efraim is my favorite son” is the aspect ‘Loving-kindness, ’ because Efraim himself is from the left side, that means, from the side of Din, and always accepts influence from the right side, that is, from the quality of Loving kindness. This is the import of: “and he placed his right hand on the head of Efraim.” We are commanded to speak of him constantly: Jer 31:20  “Is Ephrayim a precious son to Me, a child of delights? For though I spoke against him, I still remembered him. That is why My affections were deeply moved for him. I have great compassion for him,” declares Adonai. “for whenever I speak of him, I remember him better” *

*Translator note, this is a Mitzwah special for Yehudah as from Yehudah to Ephraim….. Special Messiah, Adonai in them who is Loving Ephraim…… Yehudah who brings forwards Messiah Ben David….. In their observing of the Mitzwoth……..

Efraim is the one who wages war against Armilus. In gematria is equal to 331.

All the mentioned aspects are in the line of Yosef ben Rachel, from the land; thus this chapter speaks about Rachel--Rachel who “weeps for her children”.

Jer 31:15  Thus said Adonai, “A voice was heard in Ramah, wailing, bitter weeping, Raḥěl weeping for her children, refusing to be comforted for her children, because they are no more.” 

Jer 31:16  Thus said Adonai, “Hold back your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears, for there is a reward for your work,” declares Adonai, “and they shall return from the land of the enemy. “Refrain your voice from weeping ...” “they will return from the land of the enemy” refers to the exodus from exile; “your children will return to their border” refers to the immigration (ascent) to Zion.

 

2.          Hab 3:16  I heard, and my body trembled, My lips quivered at the sound, Rottenness came into my bones. And I trembled within myself, That I might rest for the day of distress, To come upon the people who would attack us.  “that I might rest in the day of trouble” In his commentary on Habakkuk, the Gaon explains that this verse refers to Messiah ben Yosef. Likewise “Adonai will reply to you on your day of trouble, ” and, in the same chapter Hab 3:13  You shall go forth to save Your people; to save Your Anointed. You shall smite the head from the house of the wrong, By laying bare from foundation to neck. Selah.  “Adonai will save his anointed one.” As is known, wherever the term “salvation” appears, it connotes that characteristic of Messiahh ben Yosef.

 

3.         Psa 85:11  Truth sprouts forth from the earth, And righteousness looks down from heaven “truth springs up from the land, and righteousness looks down from heaven” The verse refers to Messiah ben Yosef from the land, and to righteousness that is based on the quality of Din (Judgment). This is indicated by the verse that follows it: Psa 85:12  Indeed, Adonai gives what is good, And our land yields its increase. “yea, Adonai will give that which is good, and our land will yield its produce”

 

4.         Psa 118:22  The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief corner-stone. “the stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone” As noted in the Zohar (on Bamidbar), the verse refers to an aspect of Yosef. In gematria, the initials of this verse equal 161. In his blessings to his children, Jacob said about Yosef: Gen 49:24  “But his bow remained in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the Mighty One of Ya‛aqoḇ – from there is the Shepherd, the Stone of Yisra’ěl “from there he became the shepherd, the stone of Israel”.

 

5.         Deu 25:15  “You shall have a perfect and right weight, a perfect and right measure, so that they prolong your days on the soil which Adonai your Elohim is giving you. “[You shall have] a perfect and just weight” According to the Gaon, these words indicated that his first mission was being the light of Messiah ben Yosef. Following the command to use a perfect and just weight, we read about wiping out Amalek, and immediately afterwards, we find: Deu 26:1 “And it shall be, when you come into the land which Adonai your Elohim is giving you as an inheritance, and you possess it and dwell in it “when you come to the Land” which is similar to the verse Lev 19:23  ‘And when you come into the land, and have planted all kinds of trees for food, then you shall reckon their fruit as uncircumcised. For three years it is as uncircumcised to you, it is not eaten “when you come to the Land and plant” etc. All these are thus related and of equal importance. From this the Gaon learned about his great mission regarding the revealed end. The Gaon wrote that “a perfect weight” is a characteristic of Din from the left side. Only when on his way to the Land of Israel, did the Gaon realize that he had reached the level of “faithful shepherd” (an appellation of Moshe Rabbeinu) in the verse: Isa 54:7  “For a little while I have forsaken you, but with great compassion I shall gather you. “with abundant mercy I will gather you.” Those words, in gematria, equal the Gaon’s name. Therefore, the Gaon felt that he did not have the permission of Heaven to enter Eretz Israel. He then directed his students to act like the aspect of Joshua: that is, to begin fulfilling the obligation of ingathering exiles.

 

6.         Psa 97:11 Light is sown for the righteous, And gladness for the upright in heart

 “light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright of heart” This refers to another aspect of Messiah ben Yosef. As is known, in general a righteous person is in the line of Yosef. For more details, see below, aspect 109, concerning Psa 94:15  For right-ruling returns man to righteousness, And all the upright in heart follow it “when justice reverts to righteousness, and all the upright of heart follow it”.

 

7.         Lam 2:4  He has bent His bow like an enemy. He has set His right hand like an adversary. And He kills all who delighted the eye. In the tent of the daughter of Tsiyon, He has poured out His wrath like fire “the tabernacle of the daughter of Zion” This is the middle line, the line of compassion. Similarly, the “stone of Israel” is on the right, and the “House of Jacob” on the left.

 

8.         Psa 22:1  (22:1) For the Leader; upon Aijeleth ha-Shahar. A Psalm of David. (22:2) My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me, and art far from my help at the words of my cry? “the first rays of light before the dawn” In this Psalm we find: “my God, why have you forsaken me, ” which was the prayer of Queen Esther who was from the line of Messiah ben Yosef. See below aspect 141. Our Sages said (Yerushalmi: Brachot, ch. 1) that the redemption of Israel will come about like the first rays of light before the dawn. They were referring to the beginning of the Redemption, the mission of

Messiah ben Yosef. In connection with this, as an additional explanation of , they also noted and referred to the mystery of Jacob’s blessing of Naftali: Gen 49:21  Naphtali is a hind let loose: he gives goodly words “a hind let loose.” This is in the line of Messiah ben Yosef, from the aspect of “the firstborn of his ox”, see aspect 11, which is explained by the Gaon in his commentary on Habakkuk (Ch. 2).

 

9.         Psa 69:35  (69:36) For Elohim will save Zion, and build the cities of Judah; and they shall abide there, and have it in possession. “Elohim will save Zion and build the cities of Judah” This is similar to the verse Psa 116:6  HaShem preserved the simple; I was brought low, and He saved me.“I was brought low, and he saved me, ” which, according to the Gaon, was said about Messiah ben Yosef, and thus is also in the line of Yosef.

 

10.       Psa 4:1  (4:1) For the Leader; with string-music. A Psalm of David. (4:2) Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness, Thou who didst set me free when I was in distress; be gracious unto me, and hear my prayer. “in my distress, you relieved me -- Likewise, “in distress ... HaShem answered me and brought me relief” similar to the verse Psa 122:4  Whither the tribes went up, even the tribes of HaShem, as a testimony unto Israel (Yosef) , to give thanks unto the name of HaShem “He placed it as testimony in Yosef.” Whenever the verb “to call” to Elohim from distress is used, and followed by Elohim answering, this is in the line of Messiah ben Yosef.

 

11.       Deu 33:17  His firstling bullock, majesty is his; and his horns are the horns of the wild-ox; with them he shall gore the peoples all of them, even the ends of the earth; and they are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are the thousands of Manasseh. “the firstborn of his ox is glory to him” an ox is the aspect of Yosef from the north side, from where Yosef comes when the awakening starts from below. In Tikunei Zohar it states: “Messiah from below will awaken” (p. 30). See the Gaon’s explanation there. Similarly, in Midrash Tanchuma (on Bereshith), it states that in the verse “those who send forth an ox to roam freely” (lit., the leg of an ox), the ox refers to Messiah ben Yosef. See below, aspect 85 for the aspect: “His land is blessed by HaShem.”

 

12.       Gen 28:3  And Elohim Almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, that thou may be a congregation of peoples; “that Elohim Almighty bless him" Isaac’s blessing to Jacob when Jacob left for Padan-Aram. When spelled out as pronounced,  becomes its value equals 1000 minus 1, that is, 999, which is in Yesod, according to the Gaon in his explanation of the Hebrew alphabet. Also see The gates of heaven on the verse: “that Elohim Almighty bless” etc. The number 999 is the highest level of Messiah ben Yosef when the awakening comes from below, as written: Isa 60:22  The smallest shall become a thousand, and the least a mighty nation; I HaShem will hasten it in its time. “the smallest will become a thousand, ” etc.

 

13.       Psa 126:6  Though he goeth on his way weeping that beareth the measure of seed, he shall come home with joy, bearing his sheaves. “he will surely come with rejoicing, bearing his sheaves” According to the Gaon’s commentary on Habakkuk (Ch. 2), this verse refers to the two messiah’s because the same verb is used twice, with a slight modification (lit.: come, he will come). The first one refers to the first Messiah: Messiah ben Yosef; the second one on the ‘end’ messiah: Messiah ben David.

 

14.       Psa 5:3  (5:4) O HaShem, in the morning shall Thou hear my voice; in the morning will I order my prayer unto Thee, and will look forward. “in the morning, I will direct my prayer to you, ” and wait expectantly. The word “morning” is in the line of Messiah ben Yosef. In gematria, equals 643 “as testimony in Yosef.”

 

15.       Gen 39:5  And it came to pass from the time that he appointed him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that HaShem blessed the Egyptian's house for Yoseph's sake; and the blessing of HaShem was upon all that he had, in the house and in the field. “the blessing of Elohim ... in the house and in the field” This verse was said regarding Yosef. This blessing is included in the secret of the six names of Elohim which, together, in gematria equal 156 (26x6). “Yosef” equals 156, and so does “Zion.”

 

16.       Isa 30:15  For thus said HaShem Elohim, the Kadosh One of Israel: in sitting still and rest shall ye be saved, in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength; and ye would not. “in quietness and in security will be your might” In the same chapter, we find, “in returning and rest you will be saved.” The meaning of “in quietness” is like the verse Exo 17:14  And HaShem said unto Moses: 'Write this for a memorial in the book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.'  “place it ‘in the ears of’Yehoshua.” The word in gematria equals 70. “In returning and rest you will be saved” means ‘heh’ will return to ‘vau, ’ As it says in the Zohar about the word ‘Teshuva.’ Then ‘vau’ will return to ‘heh’ as explained in the Zohar which is the revelation of the Redemption, and in this manner you will be saved, see aspect 21. Also, there is a hint of this in the word which in gematria equals Eretz Israel 832.

 

17.       Oba 1:18  And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for HaShem hath spoken. “the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Yosef a flame” The House of Esau will be stubble as our Sages said (in Tanchuma on Tetzave), because the malag of Esau will fall into the hand of the malag of Yosef.

 

18.       Num 25:12  Wherefore say: Behold, I give unto him My covenant of peace; “my covenant of peace” -- Both words are in Yesod and are used in connection with Pinchas, who is from the root of the soul of Yosef. Messiah ben Yosef is also from the root of the soul of Pinchas.

 

19.        Psa 81:7  (81:8) Thou didst call in trouble, and I rescued thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder; I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah “in distress you called out, and I rescued you” This relates to the verses “as testimony in Yosef” and Psa 118:5  Out of my straits I called upon HaShem; He answered me with great enlargement. “in distress I called out to HaShem and He answered me with expansiveness (i.e., by bringing me relief)”.

 

20.       Joe 2:32  (3:5) And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of HaShem shall be delivered; for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be those that escape, as HaShem hath said, and among the remnant those whom HaShem shall call. “among the remnant whom HaShem calls”  The term ‘remnant’ refers to Messiah ben Yosef in gematria both equal 566. In the verse quoted it states: “And it will be that whoever calls on the name of HaShem will escape, for in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be refuge, and among the remnant whom HaShem calls.”

 

21. Isa 30:15  For thus said HaShem Elohim, the Holy One of Israel: in sitting still and rest shall ye be saved, in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength; and ye would not. “in returning and rest you will be saved” -- That is, when the letter ‘heh’ returns to the letter ‘vau, ’ as explained in the holy Zohar, then the letter ‘vau’ comes down to ‘heh.’ The holy Zohar explains that the Redemption is at ‘vau’ that is after the ‘heh, ’ which refers to Knesset Israel, draws near ‘vau’ during the awakening from below. This is the mission of Messiah ben Yosef in the line of Yosef son of Rachel. (See above, 16, regarding the aspect, “in quietness and in confidence”).

 

22. Psa 22:1  (22:1) For the Leader; upon Aijeleth ha-Shahar. “the lustre of the dawn and the fleetness of the dawn” – Both are in the line of the first Messiah.

 

23. Jer 31:9  They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them; I will cause them to walk by rivers of waters, in a straight way wherein they shall not stumble; for I am become a father to Israel, and Ephraim is My first-born. “with supplications I will lead them” The word, which appears in the verse “weeping they will come and with supplications I will lead them” etc., has the same numerical value in gematria as (566). The verse concludes with “Efraim is my firstborn” referring to Messiah ben Yosef. “With supplications” in order to atone for the sin noted in “when he entreated us, we did not listen.” In the holy Zohar we find that the word in gematria equals [34]. (See below, 27, regarding the aspect “I was brought low, and He saved me”).

 

24. Gavriel,  The malag Michael enlighten the quality of Din in Gavriel, because the root of Messiah ben Yosef is in the line of Gavriel. Meaning the quality of Din, as it says, Dan 9:21  yea, while I was speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, approached close to me about the time of the evening offering. “And the man Gavriel” (האישׁ גבריאל) Through Gavriel, Yosef fell into distress; and through him, Yosef became great. This is the explanation of my colleague, R’ Saadiah.

 

25. Psa 103:4  Who redeemed Thy life from the pit; who encompassed thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies “who redeems your life from the pit” This is preceded by the verse: “who heals all your diseases.” Redemption is in Yesod hinted at in the numerical value of the letters of as pronounced. The value is 1194 as is the value of “His tabernacle [was] in Shalem, and his dwelling place in Zion” which makes the verses comparable, and thus part of the mission of the Gaon.

 

26. (Son 4:12  A garden shut up is my sister, my bride; a spring shut up, a fountain sealed. “like a locked garden ... a sealed fountain” These are in the line of Tsofnat Paneach. The Gaon hinted that in gematria equals 156. This is explained below in 98 from the aspect of “mystery.”

 

27. Psa 116:6  HaShem preserved the simple; I was brought low, and He saved me. “I was brought low, and He saved me” King David, of blessed memory, said this prayer to save Messiah ben Yosef so that the latter would not die, as explained by the Gaon is his work. Messiah ben Yosef is in the line of Joshua bin Nun. 28. (Es. 9:30) “words of peace and truth” That means the unification of Yesod and Malchut, which is the mission of Messah ben Yosef.

 

29. Psa 20:6  (20:7) Now know I that HaShem saved His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven with the mighty acts of His saving right hand. “the Lord has saved his anointed one” The entire Psalm that begins with “HaShem will answer you in your day of distress” is a prayer to save Messiahh ben Yosef so that the latter should not die.
